Huntsville / Madison County Home Sales up 20%

 

In a Huntsville Times article on, April 21, 2009 Business writer GINA HANNAH indicated that sales of single family Homes in the greater Huntsville area had increased 20% from February to March of this year. This is the second consecutive month of increased home sales in the Huntsville / Madison County area.

 

The article quoted Oscar Gonzales, the Huntsville Area Association of Realtors CEO as saying  "The Huntsville-Madison County market continues to be sound and show signs of continued growth,"

 

The article also referenced, that Governor. Bob Riley will sign the Alabama Home Buyers Initiative into law today at 2:00 in Montgomery

 

The initiative is targeted to help 7,000 new homebuyers in the next year and could ensure $1 billion in housing financing. Interest rates within in the program will be lower than market rates and will attract mortgage lenders to Alabama, The program is targets middle-class income and below buyers. The program will guarantee up to 40 percent of any mortgages that are foreclosed.
