Homes for sale huntsville Huntsville Alabama Real Estate

Thanks for your response, I love it when clients say Wow!
Regarding your comments below;
1. Reasonable Commute: Yes, my husband will be driving to Redstone Arsenal daily. I'd like to be fairly close to UAH, too, if possible, as I may try to teach some courses there part-time if I'm eventually able to put our girls back in public or private school.
In general commutes are very fast as compared to what you are accustomed to. There are congested Ares near Highway 72 / University Drive in the Madison area and further north in the Monrovia area. Commutes from north of the city in Toney, Meridianville and Hazel Green are relatively difficulty as well but probably much easier that waht you are accustomed to.

2. Excellent Schools: Although we're currently homeschooling, I would like the option to enroll them in nearby schools eventually.
Even for my clients without children we filter on schools. The quality of the schools reflect the neighborhood and will be important at an eventual resale. In general, Madison is the first choice followed by select areas of south and east Huntsville. Northeast Madiosn County where the Mt. Carmel house you asked about is also an area with great schools. An excellent resource for reviewing area schools is www.schooldigger.com . The rankings and data doesn't tell the whole story but can serve as a tool to filter. I do reccomend an onsite visit to the schools before committing to a purchase.

3. Racial Diversity: I'm aware that Huntsville is less diverse (racially) than Fort Wayne, IN, but as we are now a racially diverse, adoptive family, we'd prefer an area where our girls aren't the only children of color in the neighborhood if that's possible. ;-)
As a realtor I am severely limited in what I can discuss. We recently spent almost two years defending an unfounded fair housing complaint from a prospective tenant whom we never met, never spoke with and who's race we were not aware of until receiving her complaint! Schooldigger does have demographic data. While I'm sure there are still backwards thinking people around, Huntsville and Madison County residents more educated, metropolitan and international than most of the state. In the types of neighborhoods that you are considering there shouldn't be any issues.

4. Neighborhood Amenities: Speaking of children, the reason we like the community pool idea is we'd have the chance to get to know other neighborhood families with children and keep our own busy during the summer. However, a well-attended, nearby YMCA/rec center would suit just as well, I suppose.
There are public and YMCA pools in northeast Madison County, three in Madison and three in Huntsville. Including properties that are in neighborhoods without HOA pools will really open up our options.

5. 2-story, Basement?: Is it possible to find a 2-story home WITH a basement in Huntsville? They seem to be a rarity, but with all of the tornadoes you've seen lately, this is a concern for us. (In northern Indiana, finished basements, aka "man caves," are common.)
In Huntsville it is very rare to find basement construction. The frost line is only 6' deep so basements are not needed for the foundation. We generally only see basements in older homes and homes on slopes. While sloped lots shouldn't be discounted out of had thy do pose additional concerns. There is a much higher incidence of shifting soil and foundation problems as well as elevated radon levels.
We're planning to visit Huntsville for spring break, March 26-31, but haven't made hotel reservations, yet. It would be great to meet you in person and perhaps drive through some of the neighborhoods. So if these dates don't work, please let me know.

I do plan on being in town most of the week but will try to work in a short trip with the family. If we could set a day and time I will schedule in time for you.
By taking our original search, dropping the HOA pool requirement, filtering out older houses and filtering fro ranchers we found the substantial number of properties at the link below. I did a quick human filter as well.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can be doing for you.

Best Regards,
