The Huntsville International Airport is planning a $65 million terminal improvement and bringing the passenger capacity to over 2 million.
. The Huntsville/Madison County Airport Authority approved the expansion plan well before the Base Realignment and Closure Commission (BRAC) decision to move several military commands to Redstone Arsenal. Huntsville International airport officials have since been working with Redstone Arsenal officials to try to understand and prepare for the unprecedented area growth caused by the BRAC.
Two new terminals will add over 14,000 square feet to the facility. There will be a new baggage claim and new flight information display areas as well.
A new parking deck to the east of the existing area will add more than 1,300 parking spaces, for a total of over 2,900 spaces.
