We haven't been able to reach you by phone or text .
 
 Lightning struck a tree behind the house and followed the gas line back to the water heater and started a fire. The tenants are ok and the fire was put out quickly. The lightning also ran in on an invisible fence module. We had an electrician check out the house and have had the Madison County inspector approve getting electricity hooked back up. The electrician only had to replace one outlet. We are waiting on Huntsville Utilities to come out now.
 
I called XXX Insurance, started a claim and have requested a price on replacing the water heater and the other damage from a general contractor.
 
This could have been much worse. The tenants were not hurt by the strike and were able to call the fire department. Had they been asleep or not home there could have been a total loss and loss of life. Huntsville area information. Once the power gets back on they will check their electronics for damage.
 
 
The tree will have to come down. The fence was damaged by the firemen running to turn off the gas, The water heater, it's stand and the invisible fence will have to be replaced. The utility light was damaged and the garage will have to be repainted. There is some smoke damage and a strong odor in the kitchen
.
