I want to hold off on anything yet...but would appreciate the automated searches! We are 99.9 percent we are moving...but waiting for that "official" word...but like everything else it could change. So I don't want you to work on much now and I will let you know either way. But I found the same thing...not many 5 bedroom homes...I was debating maybe looking into a custom home on a good lot....but we will see. Thank you for your time, I really appreciate it! Thanks for the additional information. I'm pleased that we have some time to work with since we have a good number of constraints to work within. There are relatively few five bedroom homes available at any price in any location so that will be our most limiting factor. Commute time should not be a problem, with few exceptions traffic moves well here. The gifted, advanced placement schools is an additional limiting factor. Columbia High School in Research Park does have an international baccalaureate program but the k - 8 schools that feed Columbia are less desirable at this point. We probably need to focus our search in Madison, South Huntsville, Hampton Cove and possibly northeast Madison County. Wanting some space around the house will limit our choices as well. Except for older homes and homes outside the city we can expect smaller lots.  Great news on your Moving to Huntsville

At this point I will set up an automated search that meets the core requirements of size, commute and good schools. We can human filter those listings and drill in on any likely candidates. I can research and preview those houses that rise to the top. We are in a buyer's market still so we should be able to push your price limit a bit and expect some seller concessions.

The mapped location for 126 BRIDGEFIELD ROAD is incorrect. The house is actually across the street and appears to back up a small green space / fencerow. 116 SOUTH FORK DRIVE and 109 RIVERWAY LANE are not properly mapped but have large lots and are in areas that have surrounding open space.

I have never been to Huntsville, but have done an enormous amount of research...to where I have given up and decided to contact you. I do have 4 children, so I have one in each of the grade levels~ preschool, elem., middle and high....so schools are my main concern. The school system here is wonderful, my kids have been in gifted schools/programs. My daughter was excepted into a world studies/foreign language academy for high school. In my research I haven't seen too much with what is offered in high school. She has studied Japanese for two years and I haven't found anywhere that is offered either. So I need someone who can get that kind of information for me or point me in the right direction. I know it is asking a lot! But that is a major decision on where we build/buy a house.


We are coming from xxx, so I couldn't imagine the traffic being any worse ( I have read blogs about people complaining about the traffic) between the bridges and tunnels here it is a nightmare! My husband will be working at Redstone, but we are not scared of a commute...he is already used to a 40 min to hour commute, but would be nice to have it less than 30 mins. The reason I say this is we want a house that we will be staying in for years to come...so we are a little specific on what we want. But we will be willing to compromise on a few things.
I have seen all the house you have sent...now I just need a little more information than what the mls provides. I will try and narrow it down a little with what we want...I do like the Hampton Cove area...we may not be able to afford it...we travel and do a lot of things, so we do not want to be what some people call "house poor"


Must~ good schools, 5 bedroom, 3 bath, 2 car garage
Very important~ large lot that back up to woods (not another house or plenty of room between) not on top of the neighbors, lol
would like~ All bedrooms upstairs, or just the master downstairs (so definitely at least two stories) Large kitchen with pantry. deck, screened in porch or sun room. fenced backyard. If in a community, community pool, sidewalks and playground.
And if doable maybe put in a pool ourselves if community doesn't have one?


We are not over the top people, just want functionality...good flow.


I hope this helps and if all works out, would like to be in before school starts in the fall or December at the latest. Boy, I'm not asking for a lot, lol And also I will be doing this all by myself, because my husband is in Iraq and will not be back until the end of September...So if your up to the task please let me know, if not, too busy or what not...I understand!

An excellent resource for researching schools http://www.schooldigger.com/go/AL/search.aspx . While School Digger is a starting point in filtering schools, it does not always accurately reflect schools

The properties at the link below may be candidates for you. We filtered the listings eliminating those in areas with struggling schools. We did include properties in the Williams school district in the Wheeler area. While the school is ranked as just average, it is however in an area of fast growth and is on a track of improving. We weren't able to find any five bedroom homes of any age on 1/2 acre lots.

On the map, you can click on hybrid for a satellite image overlay. In some cases there may also be an interactive street level image. You can click on the zip code to link to the US Census data for the zip code area.
