It looks like the closest shopping is the super Wal-Mart on South Memorial Parkway. Google shows .7 miles. Please see the map at the link below. Except for a short section on Redstone Road that has sidewalks the route is all on neighborhood streets. You can drag the man icon to the property or anywhere on the route to get a street view. You can zoom in for a closer look.

Regarding the bother and expense of traveling; I have had a number of clients, both investors and owner occupants who have purchased homes without ever having seen them in person. I was very uncomfortable with the first few but have grown more accustomed to the process.
 
We can focus in on select candidate properties, let me preview and research them and then have your local relatives do an onsite visit. We can negotiate contingent on a homes inspection and possibly your seeing the house in person within a set time.
 
I have a military family in Australia now that is purchasing a half million dollar home site unseen using the same procedure. I have made several trips to teh house and we have had one inspection wit a follow-up inspection scheduled.
